 Typstatic is pre-alpha! 
Everything changes all the time, everything breaks all the time, and most of the time nobody tells you anything about that. Just like life.
This website is very fragmentary, broken in many places, and sometimes misleading and out of date.
Be patient, Typstatic in development (2026-08). When it’s ready for public use it will be announced on the forum and this message will be removed.

Name

Typstatic is a compound of Typst- and -static, where the shared -st- occurs only once.

Logo

The logo () alludes to two symbols:

• One is a globe with meridians and parallels (), which is often used for designating the internet (and other global phenomena).
• The other one is a hash (#), which introduces expressions in Typst (similarly to \ in and ◊ in PollenI like Pollen very much. It’s written in Racket (a dialect of Lisp), and it’s input files are written in a DSL (domain-specific language) for writing documents (more information). It’s very flexible and extensible, but unfortunately it did not manage to cultivate a thriving ecosystem, which is a domain Typst magnificently succeeds in, thanks to its enthusiastic community.), signifying here weaving code into text.

The globe is reduced to a circle, and the shape of the hash is reminiscent to meridians and parallels.

Copyright and licence

Typstatic is released under MIT-0.

The logo’s circle and hash shapes are taken from the Phosphor, an icon family I really like, which is released under MIT.

Versioning and stability

Typstatic follows the Semantic Versioning scheme (SemVer 2.0.0).

Typst is a relative newA short timeline: public beta released in 2023; HTML export (still incomplete) in 2025; bundle export (still experimental) in 2026. system and is under active development (including core features). This means that the way it works may change in future versions and that due to its incompleteness some corners had to be cut. The current version has been developed to be compatible with Typst 0.15.0.

Moreover, Typstatic itself is still in its early stages of development. While it is fully usable in its current form (version 0.*.*), take note that changes to the way the system works, including breaking changes, will occur in future versions. This may affect both sites written with Typstatic and themes and extensions. Any breaking change will be noted in the changelog, along with explanation about necessary changes.I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Since Typst files are plain text it’s easy to change them automatically, and since they are also programmable wraparound functions can be easily implemented in order to maintain backward compatibility without updating the content original files.

Typstatic is developed by Eîar Abramski-Kronenberg.

Two Git repositories are available:

• The canonical one is on RadicleFor more information, see their website and the user guide (in particular, the sections about issues and patches)., a P2P distributed Git forge.
• Recognising that not everyone is willing to learn a new system —however intriguing and full of potential — just to interact with some open-source project, the canonical repository is also mirrored on Codeberg.

If there is anything that doesn’t work well or any feature you want added or changed, don’t hesitate to open an issue, and I will do my best to make Typstatic more useful for you and others. If you want to contribute code or documentation (changes, additions, corrections, improvements, etc. no matter how small or large), patches (pull requests) are very welcome; thanks!

Not everyone is familiar with Git, so if that poses a problem feel free to contact me in any other way.

Stance on ‘AI’

• No ‘AI’ nonsense has been used for making this software.
• No ‘AI’ contributions are welcome.
• Even though the licence permits it, I kindly ask you to avoid using this software to train LLMs and the like.
• Your websites are your business, but if you plan to publish LLM-generated ‘content’ using Typstatic please do give some thought to whether it holds any value to anyone.If this strikes a chord with you, you might wish to read this piece (fediverse discussion) about de-anthropomorphising the way we speak about this kind of software.

The images were converted to a 512px-wide 1-bit images with the lovely Atkinson dithering using ‘Dither it!’ and cleaned a little using GIMP.
